If the signal strength was better I would have given 5 stars, but all in all as long as it doesnt break, Im happy. I can allso login normally, or connect via Remote desktop. As a test, you could try either moving the router closer to the computer or, I know it's a pain, temporarily move the computer closer to the router and see what happens. If you find that was the problem, try a different product or try to reinstall it. You can get around this by manually adding the wireless network to your computer.
I've certainly learned a few things. The idea was that we would keep it at our house for our granddaughters when they visit. All of those work and connect perfectly. The network may no longer be in range. And letting my granddaughters work off a wired connection isn't a viable option - too many things in the room with the wi-fi equipment are not for little fingers. I called dell and they checked it out, we updated the drivers, also uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter. I have set-up network sharing on both computers linked to. It should have the company and the model number in the list itself. It still connects fine to my neighbor's router. When I click on the icon, I see a list of wireless networks, including my own, which is set up to automatically connect, although it doesn't. A few months ago, every computer was able to see each other easily through their names, and were able to share files and printers easily, even with the two 7 laptops having password protection. Which in turn implies 1 it can connect to your router, but 2 there isn't enough signal for it to lock on. It also shows two Network infrastructures for some reason: Internet Gateway Device Network location being Undefined network and Residential Gateway Network location being the actual name of the network. Since you also mentioned that Windows 10 was freshly installed on this particular computer, have you already downloaded the latest updates? Update Network Card Drivers Also, if there is a security problem between the two devices, you should upgrade the drivers for your network card.
