A Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade key will not work with Windows 7 Professional. So far, as was pointed out, I have had to reinstall Surround every time it breaks. The text-box doesn't activate, it stays greyed out, and I have no capability at all to enter in the code. I appreciate all the help guys. I doubt that the jack is broken because it does recognize the headset and when I plug it in I hear the usual short static noise.
